FAQs – Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to your questions about Spanish translation, transcreation, copywriting and language consultancy services

About Services

What's the difference between translation and transcreation?

Translation focuses on accuracy, meaning and intent transfer, carefully converting your text from one language to another while staying faithful to the original. Based on the nature of your copy, this might be more literal or more creative.

Transcreation is a creative process that combines translation and copywriting. It’s about recreating the emotional impact, cultural relevance, and brand voice of your message in Spanish, often adapting wording, structure, and even concepts to resonate with Spanish-speaking audiences. Perfect for campaigns, slogans, and marketing copy where emotion matters more than literal accuracy.

When to use which: Choose translation for reports, newsletters, educational materials, product descriptions and technical content. Choose transcreation for campaigns, social media, brand messaging, and any content where cultural resonance and emotional connection are key.

What languages do you work with?

I translate and transcreate from English, French, Italian, and Portuguese into Spanish (my native language).

For projects requiring other language pairs (such as Spanish to English, or additional languages), I collaborate with a trusted network of professional translators and can coordinate multilingual projects for you.

Do you translate into English?

I don’t translate into English myself, but I work with trusted English translators in my network. If your project requires Spanish to English translation, I can coordinate this for you and ensure quality throughout.

What is language and content strategy?

Beyond translating individual projects, I help organisations build sustainable multilingual communication strategies. This includes:

  • Creating style guides for Spanish content
  • Developing inclusive and plain language frameworks
  • Auditing existing Spanish content for consistency and cultural appropriateness
  • Advising on which content needs professional translation vs localisation vs transcreation
  • Building brand voice guidelines across languages

Think of it as the strategic layer that makes all your Spanish communication work together cohesively.

Can you help with content in languages other than Spanish?

Yes! I collaborate with a trusted network of professional translators for additional language combinations and can coordinate multilingual projects for you.

I also work with DTP specialists, graphic designers, and other language and content professionals to provide comprehensive language solutions when needed.

What makes your translations different from automated services?

I bring 20 years of sector-specific expertise, cultural sensitivity, and strategic thinking to every project. I understand your and your audience’s language, your values, and what makes your sector unique.

You get content that’s culturally appropriate, strategically sound, and genuinely connects with Spanish audiences, plus full accountability for results and strategic decisions that take care of your reputation.

Sometimes! It depends on my current workload and the scope of your project. If you have an urgent deadline, reach out and we’ll find the best solution for you.

How can I maximise my translation investment with a limited budget?

You might not need to translate everything, and that’s where strategy comes in.

During our free discovery call, we’ll identify:

  • Which content drives the most impact (translate this first)
  • What can stay in your source language
  • Smart phasing: prioritise high-impact pages now, expand later

I specialise in helping organisations with limited budgets maximise their investment. As a member of Madrid’s social and solidarity economy, I understand budget constraints, and I’m ready to help you achieve your goals sustainably.

Working Together

What's your minimum project size?

I don’t have a strict minimum, but I work best on projects where we can build a real partnership, whether that’s a one-off campaign or ongoing collaboration.

I work with projects of all sizes, from focused campaigns to comprehensive multilingual strategies. What matters most is alignment. Iif your project requires cultural sensitivity, strategic thinking, and accountability, we should talk.

How does your process work?

My process has four steps:

  1. First coffee
We talk about your project, your goals, and your audience. I ask the questions that help me understand what you need translated and why it matters.
  2. Immersion
I dive into your brand voice, your materials, and the cultural context of your audience. This is where I become fluent in your story.
  3. Creation
I craft your content, whether that’s transcreating a campaign, writing original copy, or translating with cultural adaptation. This is where heart meets precision.
  4. Final touches
We review everything together. I welcome your feedback and suggestions, and make sure the final version feels, looks and reads absolutely perfect.

What if I need revisions?

I include revision rounds to ensure the final version feels just right. The scope depends on project complexity, and we’ll agree on this upfront as part of our transparent process.

This is a collaborative process where your feedback shapes the outcome and I’m committed to delivering Spanish content you’re proud to use.

Do you sign NDAs and confidentiality agreements?

Yes, absolutely. Confidentiality and privacy are fundamental to how I work.

All your project details, briefs, and content are treated with complete discretion and respect. I’m happy to sign NDAs and any other confidentiality agreements your organisation requires.

Specialisation & Expertise

What industries do you specialise in?

I’ve spent 20 years developing deep expertise in:

  • Slow fashion and sustainable retail
  • Sustainable tourism and travel
  • Third sector (NGOs, cooperatives, social enterprises)

I also provide specialised services to:

  • Cultural institutions (museums, galleries, educational programmes)
  • Vegan and anti-speciesist projects

I understand not just the terminology, but the values, audiences, and communication challenges that make these sectors unique.

Do you work with brands outside these sectors?

While I specialise in ethical, sustainable, and social impact organisations, I’m open to discussing projects outside these areas if there’s alignment with my values and expertise.

Let’s talk about your project and see if we’re a good fit.

Do you translate for Spain or Latin America, or both?

I’m a native Spanish speaker based in Madrid with deep cultural fluency in Spain.

If you need to adapt your content to any Latin American markets, I can connect you with the right professional from my network. During our discovery call, we’ll discuss your target audience to ensure that your Spanish content resonates with the right cultural context and values.

Can you handle technical or specialised content?

Yes, depending on the sector. My specialisations include:

  • Sustainability terminology (GOTS, Fair Trade, circular economy, regenerative fibres)
  • Social justice and human rights language
  • Tourism and hospitality content
  • Cultural and educational materials
  • Vegan and plant-based terminology

For highly technical content outside my areas (medical, legal, engineering), I can connect you with specialised translators in my network.
